2024 Champions

Jay Romig

In the fall of 2022, at age 68, Jay Romig coordinated the opening of the New Orleans Saints indoor practice field for use by local universities. Some 20 times. During Saints season. One of those university teams went on to achieve one of their best football seasons ever, winning a national championship. Since then, he’s opened the facility to high school teams, as well.

Jay has been with the Saints for almost 50 years. He’s the organization’s longest-serving employee , and he was inducted into the Saints Hall of Fame in 2017. He’s been involved with every department and knows the organization inside and out. His official position is the team administrative director. But it’s so much more than that. The learned experiences from touching every department and accumulating their perspectives—and from observing the way these departments have developed and grown over the course of nearly five decades—has equipped Jay with a treasure trove of historical knowledge and insight. If anyone knows how to get things done in the Saints organization, it’s Jay.

People who know him and work with him say he’ll drop whatever he’s doing to help you, no matter how large or small the project. Extending this dedication beyond the borders of the Airline Drive facility to aid area schools is only one example of Jay’s commitment to his community.

“I look forward to coming to work every day, to see how I can help the organization and help the community,” he says. “I love what I do.” And he’s doing more now than ever. That’s what makes Jay Romig a Peoples Health Champion.

“I love what I do.”
